Kev Slyfield, 41 Willys, Pro Mod

Complete chassis by ARRC. Original steel body with modifications by ARRC.

Cuts in A pillar and B pillar show where the top has been chopped.

Further cuts to the rear quarter also lower the roof and a vertical section has been removed in the wheel arch area to compensate for the taper in the top half of the body.
Basic chassis built and internal tin-work underway. Rear wings fitted higher to allow slick to fit underneath and moved further back to centre them over the axle. More work will be done later to give a better final fit.
Detail view of the now standard Pro Mod front suspension, Strange struts with fabricated lower A arms.
Details of interior tin-work with wheel tubs and internal panelling to complete rear bulkhead. Also shown is the interior part of the Funny Car cage.
Front firewall in steel with many separate panels Tig-brazed in place.
Three views of the back of the car. First with no interior tin-work showing the ARRC fabricated axle case, the back part of the chassis and two tubes used in place of the final coil-overs during construction.
Now with the tin-work in place but still covered in protective film.
And finally with batteries, electrical cut-off switch, mounts for parachute framework and hoses for parachute release.
New car and new team in the staging lanes at Easter Thunderball 2007 prior to licensing runs.
Off on a licensing run in front of a large and appreciative crowd. And a lot of interest in this striking new car from the event video team.

After taking out the Christmas tree Kev hit the barrier at Shakespeare County Kev causing what looked like severe damage.

Fortunately when the car came back to the ARRC shop the damage was found to be mainly superficial although the front was returned to the original mould for repairs.
No new paint on the repaired nose but ready for action and still drawing plenty of crowd attention at the 2008 Main Event.
